Signing Lionel Messi is one of the topmost priorities for FC Barcelona in this summer transfer window. Despite the recent positive developments in this operation, there are still a number of barriers to be crossed before Messi can return to the club where he developed from a young prospect to one of the greatest players in history.

A few days ago, FC Barcelona received the green light from La Liga regarding their feasibility plan. However, the league body has still kept Barcelona under the 40% rule, under which the club can use only 40% of its income on registering players.

Thus, while Lionel Messi can be registered with La Liga theoretically, this would still involve a number of sales, improved sponsorship contracts, and other improved income streams. As these streams are still uncertain, Messi’s registration with La Liga cannot be guaranteed.

The club on their side are committed to doing everything to bring Messi back to the club, but so far, there have only been talks with Messi’s entourage. SPORT reports that now the club is planning to present a formal offer for the Argentine superstar, but without any guarantees that the player would be able to actually play for Barcelona in official matches.

The report further claims that owing mainly to his experience of the summer of 2021 when he was forced to leave the club with a very short time to take a decision regarding his next club. This time, the Argentine would not be too keen to wait till the final days of the transfer window to get an offer from Barcelona.

Thus, while FC Barcelona are trying to straighten things out to ensure Messi’s return to the club, Messi already has two multimillion firm offers on the table. One is from the Saudi side Al-Hilal, while the other is from the MLS club Inter Miami.

Although FC Barcelona are fully committed to bringing their legendary player back to the club, they still have to sort out a number of problems before being able to do so. But they are running out of time quickly as Messi wants his future to be resolved soon and already has dizzying offers from other clubs.
