With their four victories in the first four matches of the 2024-25 season, FC Barcelona now go into the September international break with their spirits very high. The Catalans are currently the sole leaders of La Liga table and have a four-point cushion over Real Madrid. They also had a very dominating performance in their last match against Real Valladolid.
Now, some of the Barcelona players will leave for their national team duties, while others will remain at the Blaugrana club to train during this break or continue their recovery processes.
As SPORT has reported, up to ten Barcelona players have received the call-up from their national teams. Four of these players, Dani Olmo, Pedri, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal, are called up for the senior Spain squad, while Fermin Lopez and Pau Cubarsi have been called up for the U-21 squad. Hector Fort has been called up for the U-19 Spain squad.
Similarly, Robert Lewandowski will don the Polish national team’s colors during this break, while Ter Stegen will represent Germany. Jules Kounde has also been called up by France.
Thus, 14 Barcelona players have not received an international call-up for this break. The most notable absence is that of Raphinha, who is suspended for his next international match after having accumulated suspensions in the games against Peru and Argentina.
Similarly, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, Ansu Fati, and Marc Bernal are all out with injuries, thus not getting an international call-up. On the other hand, Inaki Pena, Alejandro Balde, Inigo Martinez, Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre, Marc Casado, and Pau Victor have not received call-ups from their respective team because of their manager’s decision.
Therefore, these fourteen players will continue to train under Hansi Flick or work on their recoveries during this period.
