16-year-Brazilian wonderkid dreams of Barcelona as Deco keeps an eye – report

Barcelona target Estevão Willian

FC Barcelona have traditionally been viewed as the cream of the crop for talents residing in Brazil and South America in general. Having signed some of the best Brazilian footballers in history and recently acquiring Vitor Roque, Barcelona have their eyes set on another one of the Selecao’s shining prospects as approval from the club’s sporting director has also been observed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona, as they scour the Brazilian market, have stumbled across an exceptional prodigy who is seen making waves at Palmeiras. The player goes by the name Estevão Willian, but is colloquially referred to as ‘Messinho’.

His talents have been appreciated by the club’s sporting director Deco himself. Formerly an advisor for the Brazilian market, he has had his eyes on him for a while now and appears to be an advocate for his arrival.

The 16-year-old striker is a present-day and future star at “Verdao.” The fact that the club just renewed him as a deterrent to suitors is evidence of his sublime strengths.

Andre Curry, who played a significant role in Roque’s transfer to Barcelona, has waxed lyrical about the young star. “He is a player similar to Messi. A spectacle. A super talent. The next Ballon d’Or winner. Currently, there is no contact between the clubs to sign him,” he commented.

Curry has helped the Catalans take notice of players on the ascendancy in the Brazilian market. However, he pointed out that the Blaugranes still haven’t contacted the footballer.

PSG have apparently already put an offer on the table for the young Brazilian, but since he is contractually obligated to his current club for the time being and has spoken of playing for Barcelona as a dream scenario, it is not ruled out that he bides his time.

“My dream would be to go to Europe and play for Barcelona, which is my dream as a child.” The youngster shared in an interview previously.

The fact that Estavao has been a fan of Barcelona since childhood increases the Catalans’ chances of one day acquiring him amid excessive competition. Similar to Vitor Roque’s case, who turned down offers from the Premier League just for Barcelona, the club can gain an advantage once more.

With comparisons being drawn to Lionel Messi, who needs no introduction, it is safe to say Barcelona will continue to keep tabs on Estevão.

As the Catalan giants navigate the market for compelling opportunities, they will be sure to monitor any recommendations that come their way. The player’s contract currently expires on June 30, 2026.
