There are always opportunities present for young players at FC Barcelona if they are good enough. Despite being one of the biggest and most demanding clubs in the world, the Catalan giants have also emphasized the importance of developing youth talent. Even now, the Barcelona first team is full of emerging talents.
However, just because the likes of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi managed to become mainstays in the team does not mean that every single youngster will have the same path. Other players, despite being quite talented, often have to find different pathways to the first team.
Guille Fernandez, for instance, may have to do just that as well. According to SPORT, the 16-year-old Barcelona gem has been recovered by Albert Sanchez for Barça Atletic’s next game in the Primera Federacion. Despite not having featured for the B team for around a month, he is finally set to feature for them again.
However, while many may think this is a step back for the talented youngster, it could also be the right step to move two steps ahead in the future. By playing for Barça Atletic, Guille Fernandez could continue his development at his own rate and prepare himself for the demands of the first team gradually.
Already valued at €500,000, he is the 11th most valuable player from his own generation right now. Still only just 16 years old, his ceiling feels almost limitless at the moment. However, just like most other youngsters, he will need to slowly and steadily establish himself until he finally gets to feature for the first team.
So far, Guille Fernandez is the outfield player from the subsidiary that Hansi Flick has included the most in his matchday squads. Unfortunately, he has not been able to make his debut just yet despite being a great promise from the youth academy. In time, however, no one doubts that he will get to make his own impact for the team.
