FC Barcelona were able to take the full three points from their last La Liga match against Mallorca thanks primarily to the young winger, Lamine Yamal. The Spaniard scored the only goal of the match after the game had gone well into the second half without either of the sides putting the ball into the net.

Yamal was also recognized as the MVP for his performance in the match, and as SPORT has reported, he talked to the media after the game. While he had scored a spectacular goal, he did not want the spotlight to remain set on him, and highlighted the positive impact this win would have on the team:

“I am very happy, especially for the team’s victory and keeping a clean sheet.”

The youngster described how he scored the only goal of the night, and shared his happiness on being able to score a goal in front of home fans:

“I saw a gap and I shot. I tried to engage a defender, and since they left me space, I took advantage of it. Scoring a goal in front of our fans is a dream come true, but it was a very tough match, and I’m happy for the victory.”

However, Yamal was not getting any complacency with this performance, and already had his sights set on the upcoming match in the Champions League: “[The match against Napoli] is the most important game for us.”

This was another highly impressive performance from the Barcelona winger in a season in which he has already played at a very high level despite his youth.

His showing against Mallorca was the latest piece of evidence about his brimming talent and potential, and at sixteen years of age, the future is clearly bright for someone who has already established himself as a star.
