FC Barcelona have seen their fair share of youngsters deal with physical problems as they mature. The footballing world is a competitive and demanding environment, and only the most well-prepared people survive. Unfortunately for Barcelona, either due to a lack of preparation or physical irregularities, a lot of their players have suffered.

Ansu Fati, rather infamously, suffered a massive blow to a rather promising career of his when he became riddled with injuries. Similarly, Pedri became another player plagued with muscular issues that potentially threatened his promising career.

While Pedri has managed to overcome those issues to a certain level, Barcelona remains cautious with him and others who have suffered a similar fate. That is why to avoid past mistakes, the Blaugranes are not willing to let those same mistakes happen with their latest prodigy.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the special care and attention given to 16-year-old wonderkid Lamine Yamal is paying off for Barcelona. By providing him with a tailor-made physical plan at the start of the season, Barça had hoped to see some signs of progression for him.

Now, the results are more and more clear and it has become evident that his progress is there to be seen. In terms of muscular improvement, the young winger has reportedly already gained 7 kilograms of muscle mass.

FC Barcelona have planned the player’s workouts and dietary conditions according to his age as well. This in turn means that the load given to him is such that takes into account the fact that he is still growing, and at the tender age of 16, they do not wish to stunt his development as an athlete and person.

On that note, however, he has already begun to show signs of growth in verticality. The youngster has reportedly grown 2.5 centimeters in height since the start of the season, and Barcelona believe him to be on course to hit the 1.80 meters mark at some point as well.
