The youngsters of FC Barcelona continue to step up when they are needed the most. That has been the fortunate reality for La Blaugrana so far this season. Even in huge wins, Barcelona have been heavily helped by their own youth products and have found a new identity with them.

Moreover, despite the fact that Hansi Flick arrives from a completely different background and setting, he has been heavily involved in the Barcelona youth setup and has often hand-picked players to join his first-team squad ahead of important fixtures as well.

As such, all the youngsters in the quarry now know that they have a great chance at featuring the first team at some point if they end up catching Flick’s eye. Despite many talented youngsters working towards becoming the next big thing for the club, there is one player who continues to stand out.

According to SPORT, the player who has arguably the best chance of becoming a first-team member sooner rather than later is Oscar Gistau. A 16-year-old forward for the Barcelona youth teams, Gistau’s performances on big occasions continue to show why the club wants to extend his contract.

In his latest outing, he took on the Bayern Munich youth team in the UEFA Youth League as the Bavarians took on Barcelona at the Johan Cruyff stadium. Ultimately, it was La Blaugrana who walked away with a victory that replicated the massive win that the first team took over the Bundesliga side too.

Gistau’s involvement in that youth team was especially crucial to highlight. Two goals of the highest order from the La Masia forward were enough to completely shatter any hopes of seeing the youth teams of Barcelona falter. Instead, they remain as strong and as lively as ever.

While Marc Guiu may no longer be at the club, Barcelona have already found a successor of sorts from La Masia. Moreover, Barcelona continues to consider his presence for the future to be important and the 16-year-old Oscar Gistau will surely be renewed by La Blaugrana sooner rather than later.
