FC Barcelona signed several high-profile players in the last summer transfer window, including Ilkay Gundogan, Joao Felix, and Joao Cancelo. However, arguably the most exciting player signed in this window with an eye on the future was the Brazilian striker Vitor Roque.

While Barcelona and the player have reached an agreement, he has still not joined the Catalan club for various reasons. One of the most important individuals who helped Barcelona seal Roque’s move during the summer was the player’s agent, Andre Cury.

Andre Cury on Estevao Willian

Now, Cury seems to be becoming an important person for Barcelona once again as he also represents Estevao Willian, another Brazilian who has got the attention of the biggest football clubs set on him.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Cury recently talked to the media about his client and his possible move to Barcelona. The agent revealed that the Barcelona technical office already has him under their control:

“Messinho is very good, he’s top-notch, a very different ‘guy.’ I spoke with Barça about him several years ago, and the technical department has him under control.”

Cury had very high expectations for the youngster but wanted to avoid any comparisons with established legends like Messi:

“Over the years, he could be one of the top three in the world. He plays very similarly to Leo (Messi), he’s left-footed, excels in one-on-one situations, and is skilled at set pieces… but we want to call him ‘Estevao,’ not ‘Messinho.'”

Cury went on to recommend Barcelona make a move for the player as soon as possible to avoid unnecessary competition for the youngster: “The sooner this issue is addressed, the better for everyone.”

Relationship with Deco

Lastly, Cury also revealed his years-long relationship with Deco and shared how he had helped the now Barcelona Sporting Director in his career as a player:

“I was involved in Deco’s signing as a Barcelona player and long before that. Nobody knew him when we took him to Europe at Alverca when he was playing futsal at the age of 12 or 13 alongside Thiago Motta… Deco knows a lot about football and is a very upright guy.”

With Andre Cury in charge of affairs for Estevao, Barcelona fans have much cause for optimism regarding his potential move to the club, especially after the successful operation for Vitor Roque. However, the youngster still has to keep performing to compel Barcelona to make a move for him in the future.
