There are certain elements to FC Barcelona that remain timeless no matter the year. One such element is that of La Masia and the subsidiary, which continues to provide the team with a lot of joy and excitement. Even in times of trouble, Barcelona look towards their subsidiary to help.
The Catalan giants have many talented starlets within the reserve team that continue to wish for a chance with the first team. However, there is one name in particular that has managed to always stand out. Interestingly, this name has already been a hero for the first team this season as well.
Marc Guiu, aged just 17, is a prodigal striker from the Barcelona reserves. Primarily active for Juvenil A, he has helped both the first team and Barcelona Atletic this season as well. In fact, as SPORT have highlighted, the young striker has no problem fitting in and scoring no matter what.
Last season, he managed to score 10 goals in total between Juvenil B and Juvenil A. This season, despite only being halfway through it, he has greatly surpassed those numbers. Even more impressively, he has scored his goals across the different Barcelona teams.
For the first team under Xavi Hernandez, he has managed to score three goals. His first came as a match-winner mere seconds after his introduction on to the field against Athletic Bilbao. That winner in La Liga managed to give Barcelona all three points in a 1-0 victory.
He would then also go on to score for Barcelona against Royal Antwerp in the UEFA Champions League. His third goal came in a friendly in Dallas against Club America. However, he also also managed to score a goal for Barcelona Atletic this season under Rafa Marquez.
However, he has completely taken off with Juvenil A. Under Oscar Lopez, he has scored a significant 15 goals this season. Five of those goals have come in the last two games alone. He scored twice against Espanyol, and scored a hattrick against Celta.
Even internationally, he proved to be a great asset to his country. Travelling with Spain to Indonesia for the Under-17 World Cup, the striker managed to contribute goals over there as well. Ultimately, while he aims for the first team as a regular, his current goal lies with Juvenil A.
The UEFA Youth League, domestic league and cup are all great targets for Oscar Lopez. Moreover, all competitions that they are currently a part of are achievable objectives. With Guiu’s lethal touch in the team, there are great things that can be expected from Barcelona Juvenil A.
