A lot of hope has been rekindled for FC Barcelona heading into the new year of 2024. Xavi’s team knows exactly what is on the line, and is also aware of the changes they need to make. Another helping factor for Barcelona will undoubtedly also be their new winter arrival.

Vitor Roque, signed in the summer, finally makes his way to Spain. Aged just 18, the prodigious striker comes with the hopes of making Barcelona a much more efficient threat in front of goal. For struggling stars in the frontline, there could not be any better recruit.

However, that is not the case for everyone in Barcelona. Roque’s arrival meant that chances for those from within the subsidiary could be harmed significantly. Specifically, 17-year-old Marc Guiu could have been the one to have impacted most adversely.

As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, however, there seems to be no such case just yet. The 17-year-old striker was recently involved in the first team’s latest training session. In terms of his quality, it seems that Xavi continues to maintain faith in his attacking talents.

Having already scored two official goals this season, both in his first matches in La Liga and the Champions League, respectively. He also managed to score a friendly goal for the club as well this season. Despite his limited minutes, Guiu has made the most of his chances.

While Roque will undeniably be a great asset to the team, selection will likely still be based on merit. For this reason, other youngsters were also included in the training session that was recently conducted. Ander Astralaga, Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, and Diego Kochen were all also included in the session.

With several first-team players such as Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Inigo Martinez, Gavi, Pedri, and Marcos Alonso still sidelined, there is definitely room for more players to make their mark. As such, these youngsters continue to aspire to leave an impact for the team.
