Life at Barcelona is always a rollercoaster for players that manage to explode. New expectations and objectives are thrown at them, as well as a new craze that follows them around. In particular, youngsters who manage to excel at FC Barcelona often find their lives turned upside down.

Many greats of the game have been produced through La Masia, the Barcelona academy, and have gone on to achieve great things. However, there have also been many who have failed to live up to the same heights. One player who definitely has not let it impact his stride is Marc Guiu, however.

The 17-year-old Spanish striker continues to be one of the most exciting talents within the Barcelona subsidiary. As highlighted by SPORT, the player continues to impress despite the constant shuffling of teams that takes him from one place to another.

Primarily impressing with Oscar Lopez’s Barcelona Youth side, he has had little chances with Barcelona Atletic. Even as he impresses with Youth A, it seems that Rafa Marquez unjustly has not given him more opportunities.

Interestingly, it seems that instead of Marquez, it is Xavi Hernandez who is more willing to hand him chances. In his debut for Xavi’s Barcelona this season against Athletic Bilbao, Guiu scored the crucial game-winning goal. He also managed to be just as impactful for Spain in the Under-17 World Cup as well.

Scoring a few decisive goals, it seems that the environment seems to matter very little. For the young Spaniard, regardless of which teammates he plays with, which system he is used in, or which standard of opposition comes his way, Guiu continues to score for both Barcelona and Spain.

Included in the latest squad for the match against Royal Antwerp by Xavi, he could even get yet another chance. Thus far, he has appeared only for 15 minutes in this season’s Champions League. Those few minutes came against Shakhtar Donetsk last time, but he could get some time against Antwerp as well given the situation of the game.

Highlighted as being a great traditional striker, he is adept at using his feet to strike powerful shots and has the perfect sense of smell to sense where a goal can be found. Established as a ‘battering ram’ by those who have seen him, the Barcelona starlet surely lives up to the name.
