FC Barcelona have often found themselves in prime spots to target young talent that seem to attract the attention of top clubs from around the world. As they have done so on many occasions in the past, there is a new Brazilian talent that could become the next pursuit for the Catalan giants.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, 17-year-old Brazilian midfielder Gabriel Moscardo is a talent that has continuously attracted the attention of Barcelona Sporting Director Deco due to his continuous relevance within the ranks of Brazilian outfit Corinthians.

Primarily a central defensive midfielder, the 6’1 Brazilian talent also has showcased the capabilities of being able to play as a central midfielder or even as a more offensive player within the midfield. Strong and technically sound, the player is seen as a profile that could fit within the current Barcelona system.

Moreover, SPORT reports that the player himself is also inclined towards Barcelona to a degree. This deduction was made through the fact that he continues to follow FC Barcelona through his Instagram page while not having done the same for Premier League side Chelsea, who have actively been pursuing his signature and even submitted two bids for his arrival.

Their latest offer for the services of the player was reportedly in the region of €21 million fixed alongside an additional €4 million in variables and add-ons. For now, the expected price that Corinthians would be willing to see off their 17-year-old prodigy for is around €30 million.

Given the financial muscle possessed by Chelsea, and lack thereof in the case of FC Barcelona, it is uncertain as to whether Chelsea is eventually able to beat Barca to a player’s signature that Deco has already previously attempted to bring in during the months of June and July.

With Barcelona already set to pay up close to €30 million fixed alongside a significant portion in variables for the arrival of another Brazilian gem, Vitor Roque, it is also uncertain if the Catalan giants currently possess the ability to even engage in negotiations for Moscardo.

Thus far, the rejections faced by Chelsea from Corinthians could hand Barcelona an opening to strike and take advantage of the player’s apparent attraction to the Blaugranes over whatever interest or lack of it he may possess towards the Blues from England.
