17-year-old German left-back attracts Barcelona interest – report

FC Barcelona have historically been one of the best clubs in the world for developing footballing talents, and the club looks to continue this legacy by keeping an eye on any up-and-coming talents that have the potential to break out as a top-class star.

This approach of the club was also put on display as Barcelona landed the 19-year-old center-back Mikayil Faye this summer. The youngster will be a part of the team traveling to the USA for the pre-season tour.

However, Faye may not be the only youngster the Catalan club signs by the end of this summer transfer window, as SPORT reports that Barcelona are interested in another young prospect. This player is the left-back Almugera Kabar, who is seventeen years old and is associated with Borussia Dortmund.

The youngster was one of the most prominent players in the German U-17 team that came out victorious in the U-17 European Championship last month.

The report has quoted the German paper Bild to claim that Barcelona are very interested in the 17-year-old, but he still has two years on his contract with Dortmund, and the German club has no intentions of selling a player with such high potential.

Barcelona are keeping an eye on the teenager not only for his future projection but also for their current needs. The Catalans are looking to get him for the B team for now and will then plan on a developmental scheme that allows him to get to the first team in the future.

Currently, Barcelona have only one left-back, Alex Valle, in the Barca Atletic squad. Roman Vega has returned to Argentinos Juniors after his loan term with Barca Atletic ended, and the club wants to sign Kabar for the subsidiary to get more competition for their left-back position.
