FC Barcelona continue to measure their strides when it comes to spending and investing in the transfer market. La Blaugrana are understandably a bit restricted in terms of their expenditures, and have to walk a very fine line. Yet, despite that significant hurdle, Barcelona continue to bet on interesting talents.
One such talent is undoubtedly the pearl from Sweden named Lucas Bergvall. A player for Swedish club Djurgardens, he is currently contracted to the side until the end of 2025. However, with Barcelona among the clubs most interested in acquiring him, it seems that his departure may come sooner than contractually expected.
On the other hand, Barcelona faces some big competition from other interested European sides. However, it seems that Bergvall is more than enticed by the prospect of representing La Blaugrana in Spain. Now, more than ever, there seems to be evidence to back this up as well.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the Swedish midfielder was recently asked an interesting question in public. Directly questioned about having to choose between FC Barcelona and Manchester City, the player made his preference quite clear:
“I prefer Barça.”
This will likely be a great indication to those other teams already hoping to beat Barcelona to his signature. Manchester City are currently the European champions and the latest treble winners in the continent. Arguably the strongest team in world football right now, the City is a hard side to choose someone else over.
However, Bergvall’s words come as a blessing for Barça and as unfortunate news to others. Even though the offer from the Catalan club at reportedly €6 million is lesser than the €10 million speculated to have been offered by Eintracht Frankfurt, it seems that the player himself prefers the Catalan giants.
For Djurgardens, the financial offer from the Germans understandably takes the lead. However, they have thus far been unable to convince Bergvall of taking that over the one made by Barcelona. For now, it seems that the side from Spain is leading the race for one of Europe’s greatest recent revelations.
