FC Barcelona are set to play another difficult match in La Liga tonight as they face Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena. Although La Real are currently placed 11th in the league standings, their team still has the players and the quality to put up a significant challenge to the Blaugrana juggernaut.
Thus, Hansi Flick is expected to field a strong starting eleven for this game, even though he rested one of his fixed starters, Jules Kounde, in the last league match against RCD Espanyol. The youngster Hector Fort had started in the Frenchman’s stead in that game and was quite impressive during his 78 minutes on the pitch.
However, he will not be able to get any minutes in the match against Real Sociedad, as he has not been named in the squad for this game. FC Barcelona have officially announced that the youngster is suffering from lower back pain, which has been the reason for his exclusion from the squad.
The defender was able to train on Saturday, but now the club has reported his sacrum injury. With his issue, Flick is left without another defender who could have helped the team as Pau Cubarsi was also hurt in the last game.
However, the young center-back attempted to train with a protective mask, and Flick expressed confidence that Cubarsi will be able to play without any issues in the upcoming match.
This season, Fort has already made 8 appearances, totaling 288 minutes on the pitch. However, for the match against Real Sociedad, he will join the likes of Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen, Marc-André ter Stegen, Marc Bernal, Eric Garcia, and Ferran Torres, as all are sidelined and recovering from their injuries.
Hopefully, he will recover from this issue as soon as possible and provide Hansi Flick with another option after the November international break.
