Barcelona target Ivan Fresneda

18-year-old Barcelona target continues to attract European interest

FC Barcelona continue to wander the ever-growing web of the transfer market as they inspect the various prospects that emerge on a regular basis week by week. As of right now, there are certain players per position that they have kept a vigilant eye on.

With it being common knowledge at this point, it remains no surprise that the absolute priority to this day for Barcelona is still to find an elite-level defensive midfielder to take over the vacancy left by club legend Sergio Busquets. However, there are contingencies in case such a transfer does not materialize.

In the scenario that a pivot cannot be brought in, Barcelona will look to reinforce another position that they believe could use definite attention. The position being that of right-back, where Barcelona believe their lack of specialists really lets them down.

Accordingly, the recent report from Mundo Deportivo highlights the current status of a player Barcelona remains interested in for the right-back position, Real Valladolid’s Ivan Fresneda.

The Spaniard, hailing originally from Madrid by birth, has come onto the top division scene in the previous 2022/2023 season, and has consequently attracted the attention of various top sides, including FC Barcelona.

Moreover, his previous release clause of €40 million has reportedly dropped down to €20 million following the relegation of his side to the Segunda Division. Contracted to the team till 2025, Barcelona’s interest definitely intrigues him as he wishes to dress up as a Blaugrana should the opportunity arise, but the Catalan club must hurry.

The urgency to acquire the 18-year-old fullback has been advised since the clubs he continues to attract consist of sides from all across Europe. These sides would ideally not hesitate to pick him up as soon as they can, a luxury that Barcelona arguably do not possess at the moment.

Borussia Dortmund from Germany, Juventus and Inter Milan from Italy, as well as Arsenal from England, are all sides outside of Spain who also remain interested in the breakout star for Real Valladolid. Barcelona would thus be wise to pursue his signing rather early since he does present a good market opportunity given his lowered release clause at the moment.
