One of the highlights for FC Barcelona in the current summer transfer window was the signing of the Brazilian Vitor Roque. While the player may not join the Catalan club till January, his transfer to FC Barcelona has been finalized and officially announced by the Blaugranes.
The Brazilian is going through a good run of form in Brazil. As reported by SPORT, El Tigrinho has contributed to at least one goal in his last eleven games, having scored seven goals and given three assists during this period. The player was also instrumental for his side, Athletico Paranaense, in their latest match against CR Vasco da Gama.
In this last match, Roque contributed early by assisting the first goal of the match scored by his teammate Christian. In the last stages of the match, the youngster was again instrumental as he drew a penalty.
However, he did not end the match fully satisfied as he wanted to take the penalty that he himself had won. He also showed his disapproval with his gestures as he was withdrawn in the 89th minute of this match.
While this match ended in an unsatisfactory manner for Roque, the player has been highly efficient for the club in the final end of the field.
The striker had only 19 touches in this match, with which he completed eight passes, while also giving an assist and winning a penalty. He also generated another clear chance, won six duels, and also won five fouls.
Thus, as has been the case with some of the best strikers in history, Roque does not need too many touches to make a mark in any game.
While FC Barcelona’s more passing-oriented game may force the player to become more involved in the buildup, his efficiency near the opposition goal will be the most influential factor for Xavi when he joins the Catalan club.
