The bet of their youngsters continues to prevail for FC Barcelona as their reliance continues to grow. Many talented names from the Barça subsidiary continue to provide joy to the first team whenever they are called upon. However, certain names within the Barcelona quarry still await their chance.
One such name is that of a certain Senegalese defender called Mikayil Faye. Aged just 19, he has already become a mainstay in the Barcelona quarry, in particular under the guidance of Rafa Marquez in the Barcelona Atletic setup.
However, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the young defender is already once again acquiring the attention of many of Europe’s grand sides. This includes some sides from the Premier League, namely Arsenal, and even from the Bundesliga, with Borussia Dortmund having been highlighted as one.
Certain sides from France are also reportedly interested in the Senegalese defender. Moreover, Mundo Deportivo claims that these clubs would be willing to offer him more opportunities as a starter and also be willing to offer him a much higher salary than the one he currently earns at Barcelona.
Not too long before, Barça have already rejected an offer from French side Lens for Mikayil Faye. That offer was reportedly worth close to €9 million, and showcased that Barcelona still wanted to nurture the talent and valued him beyond that price.
Now, as a result, clubs may be willing to offer more than that value which ended up being rejected. This could maybe get Barcelona to become a bit more attentive to the idea of selling him, but it just so happens that his crucial performances in Barcelona Atletic can not be ignored.
In the last two consecutive games, Faye has ended up on the scoresheet. Moreover, he has played 21 games for Marquez already, and all of them as a starter for his team.
On the other hand, after arriving from the Croatian league for only €2.2 million, there is a great profit to be earned if Barcelona can end up convincing a side to offer a superior deal.
