The current financial position of FC Barcelona puts the club in a rather uncomfortable situation. Despite their success from last season on the field, the Catalans remain cornered due to economic limitations. For this reason, Barcelona may be forced into making some tough decisions soon enough.
However, even in this situation, certain stars remain untouchable. Such stars are mainly present in areas where Barcelona already lacks a certain level of depth. Yet, one area where Barcelona are definitely blessed with talent is the central defender role.
For this reason, offers for others in that particular position could be listened to. One player in particular, as per SPORT, who continues to generate a lot of attraction and interest is Mikayil Faye. The Senegalese defender, aged 19, was incorporated by Barcelona last summer in a deal worth €1.5 million.
His strong, physical capabilities, alongside his notable ball-carrying qualities, have made the Senegalese defender an interesting option for many teams. Girona, from Spain, is one of the most attentive clubs. However, in their case, Barcelona would prefer not to lose any more players to the City Group.
Other clubs include Premier League side Chelsea, and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund. Both sides are already keeping tabs on the progression of the youngster and see him as a capable future investment. In terms of valuation, the player has already exceeded the price Barcelona paid for him.
For the player, however, Barcelona remains the priority. He hopes to continue and progress through to the first team. At the moment, he remains one of the most trusted soldiers of Rafa Marquez in Barça Atletic, and he could continue with the side next season too if they clinch promotion.
Otherwise, Xavi and the first team already see him as being capable enough of playing at the highest level.
However, he is not completely safe just yet. Apart from Ronald Araujo, Inigo Martinez, and Jules Kounde, SPORT claims that none of the other defenders are untouchable. Several stars within the first team, subsidiary, and even the impressive loanees, could be sold if the right offer comes along.
