FC Barcelona were back to winning ways after getting a victory against Sevilla last night, albeit only through an own goal from an old adversary, Sergio Ramos. The result meant Barcelona were back at the summit of the league, if only temporarily, and get into form before they face Porto in the Champions League.

Several players talked to the media after the full-time whistle, giving their opinions on this match and the last few outings of the Catalan team. As SPORT has reported, one such player was Gavi, who once again put in an impressive shift and helped Barcelona get a victory against one of the top teams in La Liga.

Gavi disappointed with Mallorca draw

While commending the team for the match, Gavi still recalled the disappointment of not getting a win against Mallorca in the last La Liga match:

“It’s an important victory that we deserved from start to finish. Against Mallorca, we also had many chances, hence the draw. We were frustrated because we could have won. Today, we had many chances in the first half that, if converted, would have given us tranquility. We lacked accuracy again, but the important thing is that we managed to secure the victory.”

Thanking Xavi

Gavi has been one of the most trusted players for Xavi, despite fears that he would not be getting as much game time this season as he did last season because of the arrival of players like Gundogan and Romeu.

However, Gavi has been playing and getting praise from Xavi non-stop, and took this opportunity to thank Xavi for his trust and guidance:

“Xavi communicates the tactics to me. He tells me how he sees me and how he sees the teammates so that we can modify our position and the game. I appreciate that he always relies on me.

Now, Gavi and Barcelona will be looking to get another victory, this time against Porto in the Champions League. As has been the norm this season, Gavi will be an important protagonist in the match too, especially with Frenkie de Jong out with an injury.
