Over recent seasons, the relationship between FC Barcelona and English Premier League side Manchester City has visibly become much more concrete than ever before. Transfers taking place between the Spanish and English clubs have intensified in both quality and overall numbers.

The likes of Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero, promising talents such as Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres, and even veterans such as Ilkay Gundogan have been seen changing sceneries from the Manchester club and heading over to La Blaugrana.

However, according to reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City attempted to turn the tables this time around in the summer transfer window. As per the journalist, the Citizens were particularly interested in the possibility of taking away 19-year-old Barcelona fullback Alejandro Balde.

The journalist claims that Manchester City directly made an inquiry regarding the player from FC Barcelona with the hopes of understanding if it would be possible to negotiate a transfer bid or even potentially offer a swap deal.

However, Barcelona ended up rejecting any such possibilities as they consider the young La Masia fullback to be untouchable and an asset that the Catalan giants hope to count upon for many years ahead in the future.

Balde made his official first-team debut for FC Barcelona against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League in 2021, and since then has risen to stardom within the first team and completely taken over as the heir to Jordi Alba.

The new number 3 for Barcelona is expected to have a major role within the side during the ongoing 2023/2024 season just as he did during the previous 2022/2023 season where Barca rose to the occasion and ended up winning both the La Liga title as well as the Spanish SuperCup.
