As FC Barcelona brace to face the league leaders Girona in their upcoming La Liga match, they will have to keep a special eye on the Brazilian winger Savio, who has taken the league by storm in his first-ever season in Spain.

The Brazilian will be the star attraction in the upcoming Catalan derby, the result of which can have significant implications for the league table as Barcelona are only four points behind Girona, and a win for the Blaugranes will reduce the gap to a single point.

In addition to the threat that he will be posing on the pitch, Savio is also attracting significant interest from Barcelona scouts as he is one of the players that the club is looking to go after in the summer of 2024.

Savio, who has a contract till 2027 with Troyes, and is currently playing with Girona, is aware that Barcelona have his name highlighted for the next summer. Barcelona have already assessed the player in detail this season, and have been impressed by his technicality, bravery, and intelligence on the pitch.

According to SPORT, there have already been first contacts between Deco and the winger’s entourage. The Catalans wanted to have an idea of how the player feels about moving to Barcelona, and his overall aspirations about his career after having played sometime in Spain. The meetings up to now have ended on positive notes, and more such summits are expected.

Barcelona and Xavi are looking for left-wingers in the market, and Savio is excelling in just such a position this season. But his versatility allows him to play effectively on both the wings like very few other players in top European leagues, something that makes him particularly attractive for Barcelona.

Meanwhile, as Barcelona and Girona prepare for their upcoming match, Savio will be looking to further impress Deco and Co. However, this will not be an easy task by any means, as he will most probably have to deal with Ronald Araujo or Jules Kounde on Barcelona’s defensive end.
