There are a number of youngsters at FC Barcelona that the club is looking to send on loan or sell with a repurchase option primarily to help them provide a more conducive environment for their growth and development.
Among these youngsters is Chadi Riad, who was one of the best players at Barca Atletic last season, which reached the promotion play-offs for the Primera Federation. The player made 37 appearances for the Barcelona B team last season, and has also already been called up by the Moroccan senior national team.
However, the player did not travel to the USA with the Barcelona team as he is looking to finalize his future destination. According to SPORT, this future destination of the player is more or less decided, as Barcelona have already reached an agreement with Betis for the player’s transfer.
Under this agreement, Riad will sign with Betis initially on loan, but the Verdiblanco team will have the option to permanently sign him at the end of this loan. The Catalan club was initially aiming to fully transfer the player, with the option to buy him back at the end of the season.
However, a loan with purchase option was preferred in the end, which allowed Betis to win the race for the center-back against other interested sides like Almeria, Watford, Sporting Gijon, and Andorra.
Real Betis will be relying on Riad for Manuel Pellegrini’s new project at the club, one which they will have to navigate while keeping their economic difficulties in mind. The defender himself is happy to join Betis as he would also get to experience European football with UEFA Europa League.
