20-year-old Barcelona midfield prodigy could receive minutes against Antwerp – report

The upcoming clash for FC Barcelona against Belgian side Royal Antwerp will be an interesting one. Set to kick off the UEFA Champions League campaign for both clubs involved, it will be an important clash for various reasons.

One of those reasons will be the utilization of numerous talented youngsters in the game. With both FC Barcelona and Royal Antwerp possessing a slew of impressive young talents, it will be exciting to see exactly how many of them are able to feature in a competition this grand and leave their mark on it.

Out of the many youngsters involved, a particular 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder will also be looking to have an impact and fight for his place. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Fermin Lopez is among those who could possibly feature for Barcelona in this Champions League matchup.

Included in the squad list for the game against Antwerp, Lopez finally makes his return from suspension. Previously suspended for a game through his bookings from Barcelona Atletic, the suspension transferred over to the first team activity as well.

Despite Barcelona disputing and arguing with the RFEF over this concern of theirs, Lopez remained suspended across all categories due to his active suspension. Now, however, the player is finally eligible to play again and has been included in Xavi’s 21-man Barcelona squad list for their opening UCL clash.

Already one of the protagonists of the pre-season, Fermin Lopez will have much to fight for. The La Masia star impressed many of his seniors previously as well, and they will likely be quite eager to see the youngster get some minutes for the first team in Europe as well.

So far, the 20-year-old Barcelona player has accumulated only 5 minutes or so in official competitions for the first team. Featuring quite briefly against Villarreal on Matchday 3 of La Liga, the youngster has yet to feature since that debut for the club that he made against the Yellow Submarines.
