Barcelona midfielders Pedri and Gavi

20-year-old Barcelona midfielder utilized the summer break to maximize his fitness

Pedri has been one of the stand-out players for FC Barcelona in the last two seasons. Despite still only twenty years old, the midfielder from the Canary Islands has gained significant experience in the Spanish top flight and is one of the mainstays in Xavi’s lineups.

Pedri was one of the most played players when fit during the last season. However, he had to miss a significant number of games with injuries during the 2022-23 campaign, as he was sidelined for more than a hundred days with muscle and hamstring injuries in the second half of the season.

To avoid such lengthy injuries in the upcoming campaign, Pedri did his best during the vacations to return to training in the best possible shape. According to SPORT, the midfielder had five weeks of vacation, but unlike most other player, he did not spend his time partying and relaxing.

Instead, the player has been training on his own, and for this purpose, he rented a house with an attached gym in Tenerife. He also had scheduled field training sessions at a high-performance center in Adeje. With these two facilities, the player worked hard to gain maximum advantage of the summer break and improve his fitness and technical aspects.

Pedri had been so focused on these training activities that he has missed them only once during his holidays. This day was missed because of his involvement in a promotional event for bananas from the Canary Islands. Otherwise, he had been fully focused on these fitness-related activities and had also been joined by his family and friends in these activities.

One of these friends who played with Pedri during this summer break is Alberto Moleiro, the expected future star of Las Palmas, who is going to debut in La Liga this season. The facilities where Pedri had been training are ideal from a footballing perspective, as they have two natural grass pitches, well-kept playing fields, an Olympic pool, a hydrodynamic channel, several tennis courts, and a cross-training area.

Thus, while already being a fixed name in Xavi’s teamsheet, Pedri did his best to return to training under Xavi in the best possible shape. This will benefit Barcelona significantly, as they have a grueling season ahead and need their players at their maximum fitness levels.
