FC Barcelona will have to play against Granada on Sunday without Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is the most dangerous, experienced, and skilled forward in the Blaugrana squad, and has been the leader of the attack since his arrival in the summer of last year.
Lewandowski suffered an injury in the last match against Porto, and had to leave the pitch shortly after the half-hour mark.
Ferran Torres replaced Lewandowski in that game, and was able to score a goal that proved to be the winner for the Catalans giants at the full-time whistle, but Xavi will have to again come up with a plan to replace the Pole in the match against Granada.
Fermin Lopez can help replace Lewandowski’s goals
As Xavi mentioned in his customary pre-match press conference prior to the Granada clash: “Lewandowski is a world-class striker, difficult to replace, but we have alternatives like Ferran or Joao Félix.”
However, these two are not the only players who can take over the scoring responsibilities in Lewandowski’s absence. As Mundo Deportivo has noted, Fermin Lopez has also made a case for being a reliable goal-scorer in the last few months.
Proven goal record
Fermin Lopez announced himself to the world with a wonderful goal against Real Madrid during the pre-season tour of the USA. Since then, Lopez has also opened his scoring account in La Liga, as he scored an important goal for Barcelona against Mallorca, which ultimately proved to be decisive as it rescued a point for the Catalans.
While on loan at Linares last season, Fermin scored twelve goals in the Primera RFEF while playing behind the striker. Thus, his goal-scoring abilities are already proven, and he might get to increase his goal tally in the league by scoring one or more in the match against Granada.
