Barcelona are finally ready to enter the hot segment of the summer transfer window and finalize various transfer negotiations and close down pending operations across the continent.
With the ever-present connection between arrivals and departures still very much there to take care of for the Catalan club, it now seems one potential sale can be completely ruled out following the latest developments.
As reported by SPORT and as interviewed by Jijantes FC, Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes has had his say on Barcelona youngster and La Masia gem Ansu Fati’s future at the club, and the player’s representative has made it ultra clear that the player continues to demand to stay at the club and that’s how it’ll stay between now and the end of the transfer window. He stated:
…Ansu Fati wants to stay at Barça. He has scored three goals in the last two matches; they have a great player…
The agent also hinted at his belief that Ansu Fati is potentially a Ballon D’or quality player and simply needs time to develop and come back into his own.
…One day, he will win the Ballon d’Or, believe me…
Understandably, it was no small feat that the legendary Lionel Messi’s number 10 shirt was handed to Fati at a very young age, given that most experienced footballers may shiver at the very thought of having to shoulder the responsibility of such a fabled jersey.
On the other hand, Ansu Fati embraced it with confidence. Despite the constant injuries that have hindered both his development and individual success, the Spaniard would keep bouncing back to leave a mark whenever he was awarded the opportunity to.
Behind Robert Lewandowski, Fati remains Barcelona’s second-best goal scorer in the 2022/2023 campaign despite receiving significantly fewer minutes than most on that list of goal scorers. Tied with Raphinha’s tally of 10 goals, Fati managed to equal the Brazilian’s scoring numbers in 1098 minutes less.
With his agent’s word now public, it seems that Barcelona’s number 10 will be staying at the club and looking to work on his individual progress and physical training as previously reported, to enable himself to return to his previous fitness levels and emerge as a stronger version of himself next season.
