Injuries have always been a sore topic at FC Barcelona, given the capabilities of certain injuries that can even potentially waste entire careers up ahead for different players. The Ansu Fati case is perhaps the most hurtful one in recent times, given that it took away much more than just time from Barca’s once most prodigal son.

However, while Fati continues to earn his journey back to Barcelona while he plays on loan this season in England, there is another injury that the Catalan giants are currently worried about and under no circumstances will look to accelerate the recovery from.

The injury in question pertains to 20-year-old Barcelona midfielder and Golden Boy winner Pedri, one that he suffered near the end of August to the anterior rectum of his right leg. Despite his good progression in terms of recovery since then, Barcelona are delaying his return to a later date as for now.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Pedri will make his return for FC Barcelona after the end of the second international break coming up ahead in mid-October and is expected to mark his comeback sometime after the 17th of October.

While it is true that Barcelona will face certain strong league opponents during the time that Pedri will take to recover such as Real Betis and Porto, the coaches believe that they have enough quality depth in the team to face those challenges in both Spain and Europe until Pedri returns.

Pedri could mark his return at any point following that, and the games that potentially could mark his return are three home games in a row against Athletic Bilbao, a UEFA Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, and the El Clasico against Real Madrid on the 29th of October.

For now, Pedri remains on the injury list alongside Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo, both of whom will undoubtedly be integral for Xavi Hernandez’s plans for Barcelona during the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign up ahead.
