El Clasico draws ever closer for FC Barcelona, and the stakes could not be higher. Every passing day is one step closer to club football resuming, and also to Real Madrid. The clash between La Blaugrana and Los Blancos is worth much more than just three points.
However, in order to be at their best for the game, Barça will need their stars present. The current injury list is not exactly ideal, given that several players are out injured. Yet, it seems that some may actually end up making it to El Clasico after all.
Pedri’s Progress
The case that is generating the most excitement is that of 20-year-old Pedri. According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona continues to monitor his progression. Despite the excitement, the Blaugranes want to remain as skeptical as possible for the good of their own player.
An El Clasico worth ‘6’ points
The clash against Real Madrid is seen as a match worth ‘6’ points, according to MD. Three points that can be won, and three that can be ‘taken away’ from the opponent. Moreover, it is also a matter of pride and pedigree. Pedri’s involvement would hence be a massive boost for FC Barcelona.
However, the medical staff and coaches of Barcelona remain absolutely clear about his recovery. Despite the positive sensations and progression, they will not risk Pedri if there is any doubt. For now, it seems likely that the Canary Islander will make it in time to feature against Los Blancos.
The other injured stars
Other injured stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Raphinha, Sergi Roberto, Frenkie De Jong, Alejandro Balde, and Lamine Yamal all continue to recover. Balde and Yamal are definitely expected to be present for the Classic.
Both youngsters have even participated in part of the recent group training. Raphinha also progresses well and should be there as per MD. Robert Lewandowski also shows good intent and progression and could end up making it in time.
Frenkie De Jong, however, will have his progression monitored after having his splint removed to dictate his availability. Sergi Roberto and Jules Kounde, for now, remain the only two players completely ruled out for the match.
