Making it to the first team of FC Barcelona in itself is a massive dream for many, but the greats do not stop there. To one day wear the colors of one’s country is also an ideal that many top stars of the game share. One of the latest dreamers just so happens to be among the most promising talents within La Blaugrana.
Called upon by the Spanish Under-21 side, Barcelona talent Fermin Lopez had a point to prove. Set to be his first-ever taste of international football at any level, the 20-year-old Spaniard was committed. Hungry to prove his worth and leave his mark, he happened to do just that against Kazakhstan.
As part of the Qualifiers for the Under-21 European championship, Spain versus Kazakhstan held a lot of weight. Both teams are a part of Group B, with Kazakhstan at fifth and Spain at first.
Ultimately, it ended up being Spain who triumphed. Thumping their rivals with a scoreline of 4-0, the thrashing was initiated by a Barça player himself.
As highlighted by SPORT, it took 20-year-old Fermin Lopez only eleven minutes to announce himself. Scoring the opener for Spain early on, he set the tempo for what was to come. A great performance overall, capped off with a great goal to his name as well.
Following a failed strike at goal, it took Fermin his second attempt to smash the ball into the back of the net. Moreover, the 20-year-old starlet could have possibly doubled his tally for the night right before halftime, but it was not to be.
Lopez did not stop with the goal, however. His influence was greatly impactful for La Roja. Moreover, even young Pablo Torre managed to get an assist to his name with Spain’s second goal. Fans of La Blaugrana will hence be overjoyed with the progress of two massively talented starlets.
