With FC Barcelona keen on introducing new faces within the dynamics of the club itself, they must also be simultaneously well prepared to offload some others already within the club and its assortment of players.
As the Catalan club unveils new introductions such as Manchester City captain and recent treble winner Ilkay Gundogan, as well as former Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez, they have also simultaneously managed to terminate the contract of Samuel Umtiti and are closing in on the sale of another French defender as well, Clement Lenglet.
However, the outgoings do not stop there, as the Catalan club still has work to do and operations to fully settle. One such lingering operation is that of Barcelona Atletic defender, Chadi Riad.
The 20-year-old Moroccan defender, as is being reported by SPORT, continues to be of the understanding that he and FC Barcelona are currently not on the same wavelength and that the future of the youngster lies away from the storied Catalan club.
Accordingly, with his contract set to expire in the upcoming year of 2024, Barcelona are looking to ensure they at least manage to secure some sort of financial compensation for his transfer rather than letting him go for free next season.
As per the report, the primary interest for the player has come from clubs situated either in the Spanish top flight of La Liga or the English Championship, with Almeria and Watford being the two sides from each respective league that continue to showcase the most prominent interest in acquiring the player.
For Barcelona, two options are currently feasible and on the table. Firstly, the club could opt to send the defender on a loan before initially having him return to them, and should the right kind of development occur maybe new prospects could be assessed, and on the other hand, the option available is that of a permanent transfer with an option to repurchase the talented Barcelona B product.
In terms of financial compensation, Barcelona are looking to acquire at least €4 million for his services given his massive contributions to Barcelona Atletic this season as well, having appeared 37 times across the season and has also made his first team debut under Xavi Hernandez as well.
