FC Barcelona, over the years, have had a tradition of having great Brazilian talents at the club, at different stages of their career. The likes of R9 Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Neymar Jr., and Dani Alves have all worn the famed garnet and blue jersey.
In the current squad led by manager Hansi Flick, Raphinha is continuing the strong tradition of Brazilian players at Barcelona. The 27-year-old is one of the club’s captains and arguably one of the most in-form players in the world at the moment.
Now, as per Carlos Monfort of Jijantes, the club’s scouting team, led by Paulo Araujo, has identified several promising players, but they were particularly impressed by one: 2009-born talent Guilherme Doguinha. He currently plays for Flamengo at the lower levels.
The report describes Doguinha as a fast right winger with great dribbling skills who, despite having much to refine, caught the scouts’ attention with his flair and creativity on the ball.
However, FIFA regulations prohibit the signing of underage foreign players and Barcelona cannot secure his signature for now. He is yet to make an appearance with the first team and despite their interest, all the Catalan club can do is wait.
Barcelona is a breeding ground for young talent around the world and through their famed La Masia academy, many players have gone on to make a case in the first-team or find a career for themselves at some other club.
One thing that the Catalan club can promise is that if youngsters can show that they have the required level, the team has a coach who places immense trust in the academy and the reserve team and it is only a matter of time before they get a chance.
In the last few seasons, Barcelona have been showing signs of becoming a largely self-sufficient club. Scouting projects like Doguinha is the reason why this has become possible and let’s wait and see if the club snaps him up in the future.
