With the transfer window closed FC Barcelona are currently focusing on ensuring their first team remains strong in the years to come by addressing the contractual situation of its players.
In this regard, the Catalans are looking to arrive at agreements with several of their important players whose contracts are ending in 2026, as the Catalans do not want to go into a season with any of their players having only one year left on their contracts.
In addition to the first-team players, the Blaugranes are also attentive to the contractual situations of their youngsters, and Mundo Deportivo reports that there are three highly-rated quarry players in particular whose contracts they are looking to renew.
One of these players is the 22-year-old left-back Gerard Martin, who is already a part of first team dynamics. His current contract expires in 2025, but negotiations with him are reportedly going well for the Blaugranes.
His new contract can extend his association with Barcelona for four more years, and there will also be a significant increase in his release clause.
There have been regular meetings taking place between the representatives of the 22-year-old left-back and the Catalan club, and the player has already played in several matches under Flick this season.
Another player whose contract is ending in 2025 is Pau Prim, but unlike Gerard Martin, negotiations for his renewal are not going exactly according to the club’s plans. He is currently a key part of the Barcelona Atletic team, but as there is still no agreement reached for a renewal, his future at the club is highly uncertain.
Lastly, Unai Hernandez’s contract with Barcelona is also ending in 2025. The midfielder had several offers to leave last summer but he decided to stay at the Catalan club.
Contacts between the club and his entourage have resumed recently, and the two parties are expected to arrive at an agreement in the coming few weeks. Furthermore, Hansi Flick is also considering to promote him to the first team.
