Injuries have been a rather annoying problem for FC Barcelona to deal with in recent seasons. Despite the many issues that continue to persist both on and off the field, injuries to key players are arguably some of the worst hits that Barça has ended up taking.
This season alone, many stars have already succumbed to injuries. Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, and Robert Lewandowski are just a few names that have dealt with injuries at some point or the other this season.
Even recently, 19-year-old Gavi had to be withdrawn and taken for treatment for his ACL injury. This injury is expected to keep him out for the remainder of the season. With his loss, Barcelona saw their numbers reduced once again.
However, there is another player who was once on his way to becoming a new generational star for Barça, but then later saw his career stall due to injuries. The player in question currently plays for Brighton on loan, and his name is Ansu Fati.
Unfortunately for the improving youngster, it seems that fate’s unfortunate hand has struck once again. As per Goal, the Barcelona loanee has been injured with Brighton in their recent game. While playing against Nottingham Forest, the young Spaniard had to be replaced in the 21st minute.
As per the updates provided, Fati began to feel discomfort after attempting to stretch after a loose ball. Afterwards, he was seen pointing to his leg and could not continue any further. For now, the exact details and specifications of the injury remain unclear.
Despite still only being 21 years of age, Fati has been through a lot. The youngster first burst onto the scene as a 16-year-old, and was seemingly destined for greatness. However, one bad injury led to another, and the consistent relapses saw the winger lose not just his prominence but also apparently his confidence.
This latest move to Brighton was a strategic one in order to help the forward regain his best levels. With 13 appearances under his belt, he had already managed to score four goals for Brighton. The latest injury will undoubtedly come as a major setback for him, but only time will tell how severe it is.
