It was another glorious night for FC Barcelona as the Catalans got a 4-0 victory over their fiercest rivals, Real Madrid. The fact that this match was played at the Santiago Bernabeu only made it even better for the Blaugranes.
Several players from Flick’s team stood out on the night, but the most surprising one was one of the youngsters, Marc Casado. Despite the chaotic first half, the La Masia graduate kept his composure in the midfield.
But things started getting really better for him in the second half. It was his through-ball that led to the first goal from Robert Lewandowski, and one can argue that it was this goal that rallied the team to put Real Madrid to the sword.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the midfielder was one of the Barcelona players who talked to the media after this game. He shared his happiness on the recent results that his team has gotten over some very difficult rivals in the last few days:
“We knew it was going to be a tough week against three very challenging teams. The team has played very well, and we’re very happy.”
Casado was referring to the three of the last matches played by Barcelona, against the likes of Sevilla, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid. This was certainly a testing week for the Blaugranes, but they really passed these tests with flying colors as they won these matches with scorelines of 5-1, 4-1, and 4-0 respectively.
Casado might see his importance in the team getting reduced a bit with the return of midfielders like Frenkie de Jong and Gavi. But there is no doubt that he showed that he has the maturity and the talent not only to play for a team as big as Barcelona, but also to shine against some of the biggest teams in Europe.
