Although not directly associated with the club in any formal way, the Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes has a lot of influence at FC Barcelona. He enjoys his influence not only because he is the representative of several Blaugrana players, but also because of his close relationship with Joan Laporta and Deco.
The agent is once again going to be important for Barcelona as the next winter transfer window approaches. There are several operations in which the Catalans will need his cooperation in the coming weeks.
As SPORT has reported, one such operation involves the Barcelona forward Ansu Fati, whose future at the Blaugrana club is looking highly uncertain because of the lack of minutes he is having at the start of this season.
In January, the Spaniard will have the opportunity to leave the club once again in search of more regular playing time, and the report claims that Mendes is already clear about Barcelona’s desires. Now, Fati, who has always remained desirous of remaining at the club, will have to make a decision about his future.
Barcelona have already communicated it to the Portuguese agent that Fati is getting the same opportunities as the rest of his teammates, but he is not a good fit in Flick’s team. Thus, he will remain without minutes if he stays till the end of the season, and thus the best way forward for him is to leave on loan in January, and the Blaugranes will facilitate any such possible move.
Still, the Catalans will not force a departure on the player, as they believe he is still a very important player, who also has a contract till 2028. So, it is in the best interests of the player and club that he leaves on loan in January.
Sevilla is one of the more interested sides in Fati, especially with former Barcelona Atletic coach García Pimienta now in charge of the Andalusian team. However, their relationship with the Blaugranas is quite poor. Meanwhile, Mendes is also exploring other possible destinations, but it will ultimately be Ansu who decides his future.
