22-year-old Barcelona fullback on the radar of English sides – report

Barcelona defender Sergiño Dest

Barcelona are working to offload some of their unwanted players from the club to ease the burden on their already significant wage bill, and the first players that they look to clear out are those that Xavi Hernandez has no interest in counting on in the upcoming 2023/2024 season.

One such player is French central defender Clement Lenglet, who arrived back in Barcelona following his loan spell at English side Tottenham Hotspur, and is now yet again expected to be sent off to Spurs, but permanently rather this time around.

Another player that Barcelona do not entirely count on for next season despite not really having many alternatives in the position that he specializes in, is American fullback Sergino Dest.

According to the update provided by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the right-back is currently assured marketable interest from the likes of English Premier League sides Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Having arrived from Ajax for a fee of around €21 million alongside €5 million in variables back in 2020, the player has since failed to establish himself in the side, particularly under Xavi Hernandez.

He was then even loaned off to Italian Serie A side AC Milan to help progress his development, yet even that idea would end up doing more harm than good. The player was not exactly an important part of the Italian outfit and was not utilized for almost the entirety of the second half of the season.

The information currently available suggests that the player could be bought for around £17 million by the Premier League sides mentioned.

Moreover, Manchester United were also one of the sides interested in the 22-year-old fullback last season and even now, as the report indicates, the Manchester-based club could still be interested in his situation and be willing to make a move for him.
