There are several FC Barcelona players currently away from the club on loan, and all these players are having different fates this season. One of these players having a relatively good season up to now is the fullback Sergino Dest.

The 22-year-old was sent on a loan to PSV Eindhoven in the summer after having failed to live up to the expectations with which he joined the Catalans club from Ajax in 2020 for €26.2 million.

Dest having a resurgence at PSV Eindhoven

Dest’s two seasons at Barcelona and his last season at AC Milan were not very fruitful for the player, as he quickly lost prominence in both teams. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the fullback is now having a resurgence on loan at PSV Eindhoven, as he is not only playing regularly for the Dutch side but also putting in some good performances.

The American has played eight games in the Eredivisie and the Champions League, featuring both on the left and the right flanks. His performances have helped Eindhoven retain the top spot for now in the Eredivisie.

Dest revaluing himself

These performances are having a good impact on the player as well, as his value has increased for the first time since 2021. The latest update on Transfermarkt values Dest at €13 million, a €3 million increase over the value that the fullback had in the summer.

The maximum value that Dest had in his career was €30 million in summer 2021, but the fullback has seen his value decline in the ensuing years.

PSV Eindhoven got Dest this summer with a clause that will allow them to permanently sign the player at the end of the season for €10 million. With his performances and revaluation, it would not be surprising to see Eindhoven shell this €10 million to make Dest a permanent asset for them.

However, in such a case, Barcelona will also have a share of the proceeds from any future sale of the player. Thus, if Dest goes on performing as he is currently doing, all the parties will be satisfied.
