Barcelona saw themselves emerge victorious against Las Palmas with a gritty performance. While the performance itself was nothing too special, the taste of victory still left a positive note for La Blaugrana to remember it by. However, there were certain positives for Barcelona that can still be highlighted.

From the composure of Ilkay Gundogan to the tough decisions that Xavi ended up making, Barcelona had their moments to remember as well. However, one player in particular who can be singled out for his determination and resilience throughout was none other than Ferran Torres.

The Spanish forward was the one who opened the scoring for Barcelona in the first place. His goal in the 55th minute ended up igniting his team’s spirit to perform better. Moreover, as SPORT highlights, his goals have been quite crucial for Barcelona this season.

Torres has already scored 7 goals across all competitions and has provided 4 assists as well in totality. Four of those goals have come in La Liga, they now place him as the league’s second best goalscorer for Barça. He is only surpassed by Robert Lewandowski, who has 8 goals to his name.

In Ferran’s case, however, several of his goals and assists have been game changing. Against Porto in the Champions League for instance, it was his singular goal that gave Barça all three points. Similarly, against Las Palmas, his goal equalized the score and helped Barcelona initiate a comeback.

The Spaniard has fully managed to turn his stint at Barcelona around. Only last season, he has being criticized for his finishing and composure in front of goal. However, he is now well beyond that point, and has become one of the focal points of Barça’s attack.

Despite only playing 1135 minutes this season across all his appearances, the ‘shark’ remains quite efficient. He either scores or provides an assist every 113 minutes. Through his consistency, Barcelona now have at least one reliable presence in front of the opponent’s goal.
