FC Barcelona currently possesses a strong depth within their squad, one that can hopefully compete within most competitions that the Catalan giants are partaking in this season. However, certain players need more time than others to truly come back to their best after some troubling periods.
As such, players often need confidence and good performances to truly be able to return to their peak levels. For Joao Felix, his most recent contribution to the Portuguese National team ought to do just that for his level and confidence moving forward with Barcelona.
As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, the 23-year-old FC Barcelona forward contributed the final goal in Portugal’s 9-0 thrashing of Luxembourg in their UEFA Euro Qualifying match that took place in the Estadio Do Algarve in Portugal.
Having arrived on to the field in the 60th minute alongside Barcelona teammate Joao Cancelo, as replacement for Goncalo Ramos and Nelson Semedo respectively, both players had a solid outing during the remainder of the game.
However, Felix’s goal that arrived in the 88th minute will do quite well to give him a much-needed boost. Receiving a straightforward pass from Ruben Neves, the 23-year-old then took a few touches to position the ball onto his right foot while evading defensive interceptions and then let loose a great strike that went to the far right corner of the net to give Felix his goal.
Having been barely involved in the pre-season tours of both Manchester City and Atletico Madrid, Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix understandably need time to reform themselves and get some much-needed game time in order to find their best versions once again.
Yet it is no secret that once they are able to find that version of themselves once more, both of these stars will be integral to the season up ahead for FC Barcelona as they continue to have huge expectations within all the competitions that they are set to take part in.
