The closing days of the summer transfer window are upon FC Barcelona as they look to make their final gallops towards the various transfer operations still open in the books and priorities for the Catalan giants, with one particular case originating from within a fellow Spanish club.
23-year-old Atletico Madrid and Portuguese National team forward Joao Felix had been a major name in the list of potential arrivals for FC Barcelona during the course of the summer, and his situation escalated in particular when he explicitly stated his desire to play for Barcelona.
However, despite the gradually worsening relationship between the Portuguese star and his Madrid-based club, a recent event has reportedly further fueled his desire to leave Colchoneros.
According to journalist Belen Sanchez of outlet La Sexta, the negative reception received by Joao Felix courtesy of the Atleti home fans in Atletico’s most recent outing against Granada has truly put things beyond repair as the player looks to accelerate his departure.
The Portuguese star is even looking at the extreme of having his contract with Atletico Madrid terminated to force a way out, as per La Sexta.
The 23-year-old remained an unused substitute during the game and it is clear that both the player and his club believe his future lies elsewhere.
While he dreams of FC Barcelona, the Catalan giants themselves have been clear that the only point at which advancements can be made towards finding a way to bring Felix to Barcelona would be once other priority targets have been acquired and necessary funds have been generated, whether by player sales or other means.
