One of the FC Barcelona players who has seen his performances take a dip in the last few weeks is Joao Felix. The Portuguese international has lost his starting place to Ferran Torres, after having arrived on loan from Atletico Madrid with very high expectations.
Last night, the Portuguese international did not need too much time to showcase his talent however, as he scored a goal only eight minutes after getting subbed on in the 81st minute. The goal was decisive for Barcelona as it put the Catalans ahead once again after an Isco brace had leveled the scores in the second half.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the winger also talked to the media after the match and commented on how he is impacted by the criticism he faces:
“I’m used to people talking about me, whether I’m doing well or not. Whether I’m playing or not, there’s always noise, always someone saying something. I don’t really care anymore. I have confidence in myself. The best thing is not to see or hear anything and move forward.”
Felix also expressed the commitment on behalf of the team to keep fighting for all three titles that his team is competing for:
“We are going to fight for La Liga until the end, the Copa, the Champions League. At any moment, Real Madrid and Girona will drop points, and we have to be there.”
Despite the positive result obtained against Real Betis, Felix also identified some of the problems of the team and areas where improvements need to be made:
“It’s something we have to resolve quickly because we can’t continue like this throughout the season. Important matches are coming up, and we have to be at our best.”
“Going forward, we’re doing well, scoring goals, but we all have to improve in defense. We had a very good first half, I don’t know if it was the best, but it was a great first half, and we could have even scored more.”
