Still, the lack of a natural right-back is keenly felt, as fullbacks have traditionally played an important role in both the attacking and defending styles of the club over the years.
Naturally, this area is on the minds of the FC Barcelona directors, as they look to mitigate this situation in the next transfer window. A number of players who play in this position have been linked with the club, with the most prominent ones being Foyth, Cancelo, Pavard, and Frimpong.
A report from Mundo Deportivo has outlined Noussair Mazraoui as another player that the club is becoming increasingly interested in.
Mazraoui joined Bayern Munich in the last summer window, but his time at the Bavarian club has been far from ideal. He has played only 17 league games with the German Champions, appearing as a starter in only 9 of these games.
The report claims that Mazraoui has already asked his agents to find him a way out of the Bavarian club, and he hopes to join FC Barcelona for the coming season. FC Barcelona had already been close to signing the player last year, but were kept from doing so only by their Financial Fair Play problems.
Thus, Mazraoui joined Bayern, while Barcelona took Hector Bellerin on a free. However, both parties are now dissatisfied with their choices, and the player is particularly keen to rectify the issues by doing everything he can to join the Catalans.
The club has good relations with the player’s agent, and his ideal transfer to Barcelona can actually materialize in this summer window.
