FC Barcelona remain a home to some of the most valuable players in world football at the moment, and it is no surprise that interested clubs continue to monitor the situation of La Blaugrana’s players every other transfer window.
In recent months, a new phenomena has begun to strike the footballing world, and it hails from the Middle East. Saudi Arabian clubs have begun to invest big in order to lure the top European talent away from the continent and bring them over to the Arabian Peninsula.
As per a recent report by Spanish outlet SPORT, the most recent of European targets that a Saudi Arabian club has shown interest in pursuing is none other than Barcelona and France National team winger, Ousmane Dembele, who is currently contracted to Barcelona for another year.
The club in question that continues to wish for Dembele’s signature is none other than Al-Nassr, who most famously also acquired the services of Cristiano Ronaldo last time around, as well as having recruited the likes of Marcelo Brozovic, a player that was heavily linked to Barcelona at one point.
According to the report, Al-Nassr are willing to offer Dembele a 5-year contract worth a salary of around €40 million per year, accumulating to €200 million across the entire contract’s duration. Moreover, they are also willing to pay the €50 million release clause currently set for the player by FC Barcelona.
However, the report establishes that this offer has been declined by the French winger, who instead continues to dream of a future with the Catalan giants as contract negotiations remain ongoing, having even told Xavi Hernandez prior to pre-season that he will indeed be staying at FC Barcelona.
If the report is to be believed, it is a massive sign of maturity and loyalty from the 26-year-old Frenchman towards FC Barcelona, as he would continue to remain one of the absolute favorites under coach Xavi Hernandez, with whom he has reached new heights in terms of his playing contributions to the club.
