Sergio Busquets’ illustrious time at FC Barcelona is fast approaching an end, and the club is looking for possible players that can replace him in the squad going into the next season. One player the club is eyeing for such a role is the Moroccan Sofyan Amrabat.
Busquets currently plays an important role in the FC Barcelona squad and has the complete trust of Xavi to play the pivot role in the team. However, his future is far from certain, as the club knows that the player has been past his best, and is on a decline.
Still, Xavi trusts his former colleague and current player, and according to some reports, has convinced the club to offer him a contract extension for another year. Sergio Busquets himself is still considering his options and is likely to leave come the end of this season.
If Busquets decides to part ways with the Catalans, the club will have to find another midfielder who can play the pivot role in the team. Sofyan Amrabat is one of the options being considered, and according to the latest reports from Alex Pintanel, the player is keen on a move to Catalonia and willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that this transfer materializes.
Amrabat rose to prominence in this year’s FIFA World Cup, where he played an important role in taking his underdog Morocco team to the semi-finals. Since then, FC Barcelona have been attentive to his situation and also wanted to sign him in the winter window.
The move could not materialize in that window because of a number of reasons, but as the summer transfer window approaches, the club could again try to sign him, and the Moroccan midfielder himself is ready to join the Blaugranes.
