28-year-old Barcelona target absent from Man City’s promotional content – report

Barcelona target Bernardo Silva

FC Barcelona are no strangers to the media works of various clubs across the world of football. Hidden within absences and presences can be found various hints regarding the current environment of a squad’s certain players.

One such player that can be considered as a major miss from a top club’s recent promotional content happens to be a top target for FC Barcelona, and he currently plies his trade for English Premier League champions Manchester City.

The player in question is none other than 28-year-old midfielder Bernardo Silva, who stars for both the Citizens and the Portuguese National Team. Moreover, he is a massive target for Xavi Hernandez. However, thus far a possible operation has not been quite feasible given the economic requirements.

Despite the player’s reported preference to wanting to join FC Barcelona, the Catalans will have to first ensure departures so that adequate funds can be accumulated.

Yet surprisingly, in recent promotional content that Manchester City released as they tour the continent, of Asia, the Blues of Manchester have decided not to include Bernardo Silva.

As highlighted by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the players that have been chosen to showcase the away kits designed by Puma have included the likes of Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland, and new signing Mateo Kovacic. No signs of Silva, nor players like Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri can be found advertising the merchandise.

The case of Grealish’s inclusion makes sense, as he is directly contracted to Puma, and so does that of Erling Haaland, as he is arguably the face of the Citizens at the moment. Kovacic being included is also a marketing strategy, given that the club would like to showcase their latest acquisition.

However, given that other high-profile players like Kevin De Bruyne have also not been included, it would be a safe precaution to take the absence of Bernardo Silva with a pinch of salt rather than outright skepticism. At the moment however, it still remains clear that FC Barcelona are heavily interested in the Portuguese star, and the remainder of the transfer window will be an interesting one for this saga.
