FC Barcelona continue to have a set list of priority signings to make over the course of the summer transfer window. The two scenarios in particular that the Catalan club remains focused on reinforcing are the signing of Lionel Messi and a top-level pivot.

Given the departure of Sergio Busquets, as the veteran is expected to leave the club in the summer, the Catalan club is in the market to scout a top-level replacement. So far, the pursuit of various players has not been the easiest of ordeals.

According to Mundo Deportivo however, there exists the possibility of acquiring one of the world’s absolute best in the position courtesy of a new revelation. Joshua Kimmich, 28-year-old midfielder who currently plays for German club Bayern Munich, is looking to start a new chapter in his career.

As per the report, the player is understood to be displeased with the management at Munich following their release of ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann and the consequent disarray at the club due to ineffective decisions from the top.

Moreover, the German captain believes that FC Barcelona would be a great spot to land and go on from here. The sudden rise for Xavi’s men following their capture of the La Liga title and the Spanish Super Cup this season has alerted many around Europe. Joshua Kimmich is no different.

FC Barcelona are also understood to be in favor of this signing on a unanimous level. The quality of the player is undoubted, and the price would be much more feasible as well compared to Martin Zubimendi’s release clause of €60 million.

The player is also more than capable of playing as an elite-level right back, a position that FC Barcelona continues to face problems with.

The Catalans are hopeful that an affordable deal can be struck with the German giants that Kimmich is currently contracted to until 2025, as they are known to discard players that seem to no longer wish to stay at the club.

In a similar case, when Lewandowski transferred last year to FC Barcelona, the €45 million that the Germans received from La Blaugrana is the biggest transfer fee they have received for a player in their history.
