Barcelona have already kicked off their 2023-24 La Liga season, but they still have to give the final shape to their squad for the next season as there are still a few weeks left till the summer transfer window closes.
The club needs to make some urgent sales to meet the objectives that they came into this transfer window with. Barcelona have already concluded the sales of Franck Kessie and Ousmane Dembele in recent weeks.
These two sales have provided the club with a significant cash injection, as well as lightening their wage bill. The club has already utilized the funds and wage space obtained from these sales to register most of their new contracts with La Liga.
However, not all the players available to the club have been registered for the upcoming season yet, and one such player who is not registered for the upcoming season is Clement Lenglet.
The Frenchman has been one of the players that the club has been looking to offload for some seasons now, and the defender spent the last season on loan at Tottenham.
Tottenham were one of the multiple sides that were interested in the defender this summer as well, but the Premier League side could not come to an agreement for the sale of Lenglet. Barcelona wanted a high transfer fee, but Tottenham wanted only to take on the high wages of the player and pay only a minimal fee.
Still, there were other suitors in the market for the defender, and according to the latest news from Pol Ballus and Guillermo Rai of The Atheltic, Lenglet is currently closing on a move to the Saudi side Al-Nassr.
Further details about such a move are yet to be disclosed, but their report shows yet another side that is interested in Lenglet. However, time is of the essence for Barcelona as there are only some days left in the transfer window and Lenglet has one of the highest wages at FC Barcelona.
