While there are many positive takeaways for FC Barcelona from the 3-0 win against Real Madrid in the pre-season friendly between the El Clasico rivals that took place in Arlington, Texas.
The preseason tour of the United States of America has thus far been a great window of opportunity for the Catalan club to assess the current condition and fitness of the Barcelona players and their collective playing ability.
However, despite all the positives that La Blaugrana and their fans may have assessed thus far, Barcelona have still faced an unpleasant scenario in their most recent victory over Los Blancos.
As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, new Barcelona arrival Ilkay Gundogan had to be withdrawn early on in the game during the first half due to muscular discomfort that seemed to be primarily located in the adductor region.
A complicated and vulnerable muscle for most athletes, the adductor is primarily located in the inner thighs of an individual’s legs and the muscle group is mainly concerned with movement-related aid such as walking, running, or jumping.
Upon suffering said discomfort, the 32-year-old German midfielder ended up going to the ground and seemed visibly distraught with his inner thigh region where he continued to caress the muscle.
Replaced by Sergi Roberto, the Barcelona midfielder came off during the 42nd minute following an earlier injury scare that also saw Danish defender Andreas Christensen come off the field at just the 29th-minute mark.
