With the conclusion of last season came the emergence at Barcelona of the need to reinforce the team on multiple ends and in various positions. The Catalan club believes these reinforcements are necessary if they hope to build on their success from last season and continue their upwards trajectory.
In the previous 2022/2023 season, Barcelona were counting on their new signing in the form of Polish forward and former Bayern Munich ace, Robert Lewandowski, to tend to scoring goals for La Blaugrana. The Pole delivered a spectacular season, ending up as the top scorer in almost every major competition the Catalans played.
However, Barcelona now believe that given Lewandowski’s rather mature age of 34, it would be a safe bet to bring in a younger star who could potentially shadow the legendary number 9 and possibly take over from him one day when he chooses to either leave or retire.
That youngster is none other than Brazilian prodigy and current player of Athletico Paranaense, Vitor Roque, whose signing with FC Barcelona will reportedly be announced soon, possibly even today, as per journalist Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo.
The 18-year-old wonderkid from South America has impressed many clubs from across the European realm of elite football, and it took a lot of negotiation and effort from the player himself to reach an agreement with Barcelona despite better financial offers having come in from elsewhere.
FC Barcelona have reportedly agreed a total package of around €61 million for the transfer of the Brazilian wonderkid. The package consists of a fixed transfer fee of €30 million, which will be paid in four installments, along with an additional €31 million in variables and add-ons.
If Barcelona are able to announce the latest signing of this emerging South American gem, the Catalans will have made their third official signing to the first team this season following the announcements of German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Spanish central defender Inigo Martinez, both having arrived as free transfers.
